What is the Startup World Cup?
Founded in 2016 by the US-based Pegasus Tech Ventures, this is one of the world’s largest business contests, with the aim of revitalizing the global ecosystem and cultivating entrepreneurship. In the regional qualifiers held in over 100 countries and regions around the world, participants compete by presenting their companies’ excellent technologies and business schemes. The Japanese qualifiers for this sixth contest were held in three regions: Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kumamoto, and representatives from each qualifier will compete in the world finals to be held in San Francisco. In the Kyushu qualifiers, 11 companies were selected from 233 applicants through a document screening process and took to the stage as finalists.
